Looking for information on anyone with the surnames SALADIN or DEVEAUX in the Bahamas or other islands in the Caribbean. I have trees on both families from the Dominican Republic. I currently reside in Virginia Beach. Thanks!

Hope This Helps !!! Lt Col Andrrew Deveaux, British Loyalist from Carolinas, helped lead Liberation of Bahamas in 17xx, and was granted land on Cat Island and Providence in the Bahamas ( See bahamas.com--history).On Cat Island had Pineapple Plantation, and understand there is a statute or something in his honor. Lt Col Deveaux, to my knowledge had children -- Moses Sr., Mary & William. My lineage descends from Moses Jr., who had children - Wiliam Theodore, Josiah, Ethel Deveaux Franks, Sarah Jane Deveaux Smith,Alicia Deveaux Johnson, Ellen Deveaux Brown, Lydia, John, Ella Deveaux Sullivan/Lee & EmmaDeveaux Symonette.Emma's children were Cleveland & Ethel Louise Symonette. My Grandmother Ethel Louise married Thomas Anthony McLeod (Coconut Grove Fl)= Children Edberk,Bernard, Thomas Jr., Leola, Earl, Lenore, Naomi, Ethel, Crandell.

These families and the Forbes family of the Bahamas, were inter-related in South Carolina. The Yonges, Bellingers, Canteys, and Bakers are my lines. Jim, Charlotte, N.c.

I am related to the Bellingers of South Carolina. As you probably have guessed, we are all over the place now. I was bofrn in NY but raised in CT. We have had several Bellinger reunions, the last being in Washington, DC in 2001. The next reunion is going to be in a little town called Santee, SC in July. Please send address and I will see that you are placed on the mailing list. Please feel free to e-mail.

I'm a Saladin from the Dominican Republic. I am also looking for information on my family. Please email me so we can collaborate on our research. I do have a lot of family that went to Curazao and St. Martin and all those little islands. I live in New York.

Hi My Great Great Grandmother was Sarah Jane Deveuax. She was born in Cat Island. This family was based in Cat Island but had connections in New York, South Carolina and Virginia. My Grandmother was born in New York while my Great Grandmother was visiting relatives.
Col Andrew Deveaux is their ancestor but can only find records of his children with his wife.
Hope to find more information.

My Mother's maternal family were Forbes from Exuma. It's been hard to do research past 1830 for slaves in the bahamas as most were bought here by Loyalists and went by there Owners surnames. The Slave records are not easily available. There would be a connection as most Loyalists moved to the Bahamas from Virginia, North and South Carolina. Would love to find out more. My Great Great Grandfather was Melvin Forbes his son was Joseph Forbes my Grandmother Rebbecca Forbes married a Godet from Turks.
