Hi, I saw your query and I have George Belcher b.1762 m 14 Aug 1782-Amelia city, VA to Sally Powell. George then remarried in 1791 in VA to Mary Fugate. I'm also looking for any info on the Belcher's. I'm just trying to get from Dock Ellis Belcher on back. I hope this helps. Icy

The george belcher that I have married first Sally and had one son,John. Sally reportedly died in childbirth. I have a copy of their marriage bond and conscent form. he married again Mary fugate. After His marriage to Mary, the sw part of virginia became the whole state of kentucky so they now lived in ky. ky county records show mary his wife in 1795.
Mary is my side of the family.
John lived in wva. possible that part of virginia became west virginia. you almost have to know early american history to figure the counties and states out.I have a Belcher word processor file if you are interested in having a copy. It is my genealogy so yours may branch off somehwere. let me know and I would be glad to send it in an e-mail. attatched. you would have to download it and read it through a word processor.
my grandmother was the daughter of old george washington belcher sr of pike county ky. he was married twice and had 21 children. one by his housekeeper. I have some photos if I ever get them scanned and put on a disc.
let me know about the file.

I am also looking for information on Geo. Belcher born in about 1760 in Amelia Co. He had a son named John born in 1783. He is (I think!!!) my great, great, great, great grandfather. The family later moved to Kanawha Co., W.V. I found a link to Richard Isham Belcher, born 1732, but haven't got any farther back. Any help or info would be appreciated!

Thank you for the info! The George Belcher in your file is my great (times five!) grandfather. My records also show that he was married twice. His son, John, was my grandfather's great (times three) grandfather. John was born in Va. in 1783 and died in W.V. in 1859. I have a copy of the death register. I would love a copy of your file! (Please include instructions-I am just starting out on all this!!).

THANK YOU!!!

I received your file - thank you very much! I was able to confirm some of the information I already had. Am now starting to look for information on children of Lewis Belcher and Elizabeth Crowder (Lewis son of John). I knew some of the family went back to Ky. but wasn't sure who or when. I am also starting to look for info. on Richard Isham Belcher, great, great, great grandfather of Lewis. So far only info is he was born in 1732(?).

Again, thanks so much for your help! It's enough to keep me going!

I attached you a copy of my Belcher genealogy to a direct e-mail and sent downloading instructions and how to retreive it through a word processor. Let me know if you get it and can read it. Its a real easy one to open. I am adding to this all the time so it never seems to be totally finished.

We have just found the marriage record for MRS Sally Belcher to a William Freeman in 1821. Forgive me but I am not familiar Amelia County Records.
You say that you have a copy of their marriage bond and conscent form. Where are these held? Are they on microfilm, courthouse, or archives/historical society??
We believe that Sally's maiden name was Fleming. Have you seen a record for a marriage of a Sally/Sarah Fleming to a Belcher prior to 1821. We also believe that she was born around 1790 [based on later census].

Thank you,
Pattie
