Seeking info on the family of Lucinda JONES, b. c1828 in WI (county unknown). Her mother's maiden name may have been THOMPSON. Lucinda married James D. CUNNINGHAM (b. 1816, PA). They had the following children (all born in WI): Warren D. (b. c1851), Lydia (b. c1854), James (b. c1856) and Ellen (b. c1858). By 1870, Lucinda and her family were living in Seward Co., NE. Any help greatly appreciated.

I don't know if there is any connection but I thought I'd try.

I have a John Thompson ancester who was said to have been farming in Grant County as early as 1840. I don't know where he was born. His son, Charles, was born 1831 in WI, but I'm not sure where either. Charles and his family stayed in Grant County near Patch Grove / Mt. Hope until the 1870s when they headed for Iowa and North Dakota.

You alluded to your ancester as perhaps having a Thompson mother. There appear to be several early Thompson families in SW Wisconsin in the 1840s and 1850s. Do you know any more about her Thompson line?

You might want to check in Iowa and Lafayette counties. Thompson is one of my family names. The following family names are all connected to one another: Rowe, Skewes (Skues), Kitchen(s), Noble and Thompson . The Rowe family immigrated from, England in late 1840's/early 1850's. The Kitchen and Noble families have been around since prior to the Revolutionary War with one branch dating back to the Mayflower.
