Pam -

The story I was told was that my great grandfather (Roger Bertagna) came over from Italy with his father and his uncle - maybe two uncles. One uncle was named Oreste (handed down pronounced as Arusty). My great-grandfather Roger married Rose/Rosa Spanelli and had a bunch of sons and one daughter. My grandfather was one of those sons - Frank. Some of the others were Bill, Tony, Vick and the daughter was Lee (married name Warboughs).

I don't know if there could be more than one Oreste Bertagna - but I suppose there could. The other possible uncle (it could have been Roger's father though) was name (or nicknamed) Nono.

If any of these names are familiar to you, please let me know.

I was wondering if you ever made any progress researching the Bertagna's. Victor was my grandfather, and from what I've gathered Roger arrived with his father Antonio (b. Around 1854) in New York on the La Normandie in 1889.

They all seem to have lived in Valdottavo, however I haven't been able to find any records from Italy.

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.
