It's a long story but let me try to make it short. My wife's maiden name is Howland. I have been chasing her family for 10 years now and it quickly led to Delaware Co NY. Her GG Grandfather was Charles Howland who moved to Kansas around 1870 from Delaware Co, NY. Like all Howlands their family legend was that they were the Howlands from the Mayflower. It took me another 5 years of work to definitively prove that Charles' father was Joseph Howland but then where did it go from there. Who was this Joseph? Where did he come from. It took a few more years but I am now convinced that Joseph is a son of Seth and Mary Russell Howland. He is the second son, your Daniel R is the oldest and Joseph is the second. Joseph doesn't appear in every published family tree. Joseph is mentioned in the Franklyn Howland book, He is not mentioned when he discusses Seth Howland and Mary Russell, but in the discussion for Daniel R Howland it mentions that he had a brother Joseph. Seth had in the 1810 census has five sons who are most likely Daniel, Joseph, Asa, Amos and Wilbur). In the 1800 Census there are two sons under 10 years old, Daniel and our Joseph. So to make a long time search a short story my wife is a descendant of Daniel R Howland's brother Joseph born around 1798/1799. So I guess your blood line and my wife's come together at Seth and Mary Russell Howland. My e-mail is edunstan@tampabay.rr.com to compare notes in the future. If I discover information about your Sarah Hasbrouck I will let you know.

check out the member tree "mcneillsr" There are a lot of Howlands and Hasbroucks

I think most of the Howlands in the tree are descendants of Joseph Howland who is brother to your Daniel R Howland so there is a good chance one of the Hasbroucks.

Daniel R is a son of Seth Howland, but I question where Seth Howland came from. He married Mary Russell born around 1770

Most genealogies say the father of Seth Howland is Joshua howland who married Mary Allen, but they are too old to be the parents of the Seth Howland that lived in Delaware County Ny. Joshua and Mary were born around 1720 and had a daughter Wealthea that married in 1770 born around ?. The Seth a brother of Wealthea a son of This Joshua was likely born around 20-25 years before the Seth in Delaware Co.
