DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON J. M. PETTY? IN 1886 HE WAS A LAND OWNER AND PETTY, TEXAS WAS NAMED FOR HIM. MY GRANDFATHER, SAM PETTY WAS WORKING ON A RANCH IN 1901 NEAR THERE. I WAS TRYING TO FIND OUT IF THERE WAS A CONNECTION. ANY ONE GOT ANY IDEAS?

I do not have information regarding your question. However, I am looking for a James Mastin Petty who disappeared from census records in Allen County, Kentucky between 1860 and 1870. His wife and children remained in that county but he did not. However, I find no record of his death in that county or anywhere nearby. Could your J.M Petty be James Mastin?

Classification: Query

My father's name is Herbert Samuel Petty. Not sure what if he was a Jr. He did speak of his father and grand father being in TX.
