I have a deed from Hawkins Co. Courthouse I am trying to transcribe and since it contains the name of your ancestor Greenberry Presley, I thought you may be interested in reading it. This deed is between my GGGrandfather and Greenbery Presley. I have left blanks in the areas where I cannot read the writing.

Since Greenberry died in Rogersville, Hawkins Co., Tenn., he is probably buried there.

His Civil War record describes him as 5'4" fair complexion, gray eyes, dark hair

Does the cemeteries have a list of burials? If he is in an unmarked grave maybe there is a list of burial dates located in the sextants offices. I know our cemetery has a list. Of course not all of them do but it's a possibility.

I was curious as to whether you ever learned where Greenberry is buried. I travelled to Rogersville last Friday but got a late start and only got to look through some cemetery records at the town's public library. I am a great-great-great grandson through Daniel Porter Presley then Daniel's son, Charles Eugene Presley. I plan to drive back to Rogersville soon to do some more looking around.

I was in Rogersville this past Friday, hoping to find a lead on where Greenberry Presley is buried. The public library is as far as I got as I got a late start all the way around. They have a genealogy room there and 4 volumes of cemetery records that I was able to locate. I found multiple Presley burial records in those but nothing so far on Greenberry himself.

I've lived in Rogersville all my life. I have searched more graveyards than I can count looking for Greenberry's grave. I couldn't find his first wife, Susan's, grave either. I searched all the books at the library and it's not there. I sent to Nashville for a death certificate and there is not one. No one in the family knows anything and anyone that would know are already passed on. Greenberry had a daughter with his second wife, Mary Melissa Arnold. Her name was Kathrine or Kate. I can't find any record of her after 1920 when she was living at home and was 18 years old.

I am the great grandaughter of Greenberry. His son George Irvin was my grandfather and George's baby daughter, Ruby, was my mother.
