Classification: Cemetery
Surnames: Rigby, Tongue
I have photographs of the following two airmen who crashed and died on 30th June 1911.

1107517 Flight Sergeant R Rigby, Navigator RAF
Pilot Officer W Tonge, Pilot RAF

If anyone is researching these young men, please contact me for the photographs.

Also, my parents visit each year and always take a plant for the graves (my Dad was in the RAF for his National Service). We would be very interested to know something about these servicement.

Regards, Linda

Hello

Richard Rigby was my great uncle - albeit he died 24 years before I was born. As I understand it, the plane was shot down and the occupants survived this, only to be shot at point blank range by the German forces. I have some information in a box that I have had since the death of my Grandmother in 2006, she was his sister and talked about Richard often though not much about the war.

I have photographs of a visit that my mother and grandmother made to the graves in Combrit - where a ceremony was held - as I remember this was about 1990. I hope to visit the graves in Combrit - maybe this summer.

Best regards
