1909 village in trencsen hungary (now slovakia) HELP!

I've traced my great grandmother to Trencsen county but cannot find the village. Her name: Mathilda Butko. I have the ship Manifest: SS Barbarosa departing Bremen on 12-21-1909. Landed in NY in Jan. 1910. The written name looks like Alsomeres. I've gone through hundreds of Hungarian names in Trencsen County and none end in "eres". The penmanship looks pretty distinct. Whoever transcribed it for Ancestry.com seemed to think there was a "d" in the name but I don't think so. Please, could someone look at this transcript (attached) and help decipher the hometown?? THANK YOU

I don't know. Mathilda's father was Andras and mother Mary. I'm still very new at this (just started last month). I found a Peter Butko born in 1889. The document (attached) appears to show birthplace as Als...something. Do you think he might be related?

I know what you mean - I wish these documents were easier to read.
I'll see what I can find for Peter. I tried the website you showed - they had many many villages in Trencsen, but none that seemed similar to the way it's spelled on Mathilda's document. Does it appear to you as well that the last 4 letters are "eres"?

Using one step/gold form www.stevemorse.org
we find one more person arriving from that same location as your ancestor.
Jandrisits, Johann Alsomeres, Hungary 18 1895 1913 but as the place of birth I see Alsomedacs; On the first page the location looks like Alsomeres/Alsomeris. Still no help in cracking the misspelling.

We know for sure the location is in Trencsen megye - Trencin Slovakia.

Alsómotesicz, Trencsén Báni Slovakia
Alsómogyoród, Trencsén Illavai Slovakia
Alsómélyesd, Trencsén Vágbeszterczei Slovakia
Alsóneszte, Trencsén Báni Slovakia

Any other family name from this :location:?

Mathilda was not naturalized citizen? Did she not marry in USA? Those 2 documents should have her place of birth.

Did she marry a male from general area in old country?
Her church marriage record should have her place of birth as well as parents names.

she didn't marry until after she immigrated to the US. It appears she married someone from the "old country" but the marriage record I found may be incorrect since she had a son in 1912 but according to the marriage certificate didn't marry until 1913. People didn't do that too often back in those days! Her birthday seems uncertain, too. Immigration manifest has her as age 22, implying a birth year 1888 yet 1930 US Census shows her as age 37 which implies birth in 1893. O the fun of searching! Marriage cert.shows a woman named "Tillie Botko" marrying a Steve Cipar in 1913. Other family records show husband's name as either Stefan or Stephen and a last name of Czipar or Cipar (I always knew it as Cipar). So I'm not sure if the marriage certificate (which has NO birth info) is for the right Mathilda or not.

I would not take the census information to the bank, not without confirm it with another US document.

By any chance the 1930 census has notation Na-naturalized; Al-alien or Pa-first?
Most of the time the certificate does not have a place of birth. You would need to request state marriage application and church marriage record.
