I have a John M Oddie who married Mary Helen Corlett in 1873 in Waukesha. John bought land in Tiffany Town ,Dunn Cty, WI in 1888. I would like any info about their children or deaths.

I wonder if we are related! I am David Oddie and am a UK citizen living in London but my father Frederick Oddie came from Burnley in Lancashire England, we the Oddie's go back a long way, some say as far as the 11 century from a little place in East Lancashire called Gisburn.

from Dunn county, passed away last
Tuesday. The funeral was held at
the residence Wednesday afternoon,

ok searching a little more on newspaperarchive I did find this obit,which when I checked the census does seem to match as it shows Mary and John adopted a son- George L. Caine age 14 born in Kansas in the 1900 census.

John M. Oddie
John M. Oddie, a former resident of
this county, died at his home in
Menomonie, Dunn county, December 22
aged 72 years. Funeral services
were held at his home in Menomonie
and his remains brought to Waukesha
county and interred in the R. P.
cemetery at Vernon. Funeral services
were conducted by Rev Dr.
Rogers of Carroll college. Mr. Oddie
took an active
interest in politics,
having held several town offices
and serving his district as assemblyman
in 1885. He leaves his widow
an adopted son, two sisters, Misses.
M. and E. Cumming, Vernon and
several nieces and nephews.

hopefully I am on the right path, which might give you more leads on him, then I found this article -the death of his sister: and also found where Mrs. John Oddie of Menomonie was visting Miss Ella Cummings. Also in the 1920 census she is living with her adopted son George L. Caine and wife Ethel in Stoughton Ward 4, Dane, Wisconsin then I found an article on her death:

Capital Times July 22, 1924, page 12
Died at Waukesha
Mrs. Mary Oddie, who has lived with Mr. and Mrs.
George Caine, died at Waukesha yesterday, where the funeral will be held.

Waukesha Freeman September 14, 1916, page 8

Mrs. John Oddie of Menomonie,
Wis. was called here last Friday by the death of Miss Margaret Cummings.

THEN FOUND THIS:

VERNON.
John Oddie of Menomonee, Wis.,
and Mrs. Kate Graham and sister,
Nan McLeod, of Eau Claire, were
called here last week Friday by the
death of their uncle, Wm. McLeod. A
large number of friends and neighbors,
from Vernon, New Berlin, and
Waukesha were present at the funeral
to pay their last respects to their
old friend and neighbors.

Funeral services for George 0.
Caine, 76, of 2?02 Gregory st.,
who died Friday, will be held at
1 p.m. Monday in the First
Methodist Church, 908 Wisconsin
ave., with the Rev. J. Ellsworth
Kalas officiating.
Mr. Caine formerly owned the
George Caine and Son Leather
Co.. 1231 Regent st. He retired
in 1958.
He was born in Kansas and
moved to Madison from Stoughton
in 1927. He was married to Ethel
Hull in 1911.
He was a member of the First
Methodist Church and the Hiram
Masonic Lodge No. 5O.
Surviving are his wife; three sons,
Rolland, Park Ridge, Ill.; George, Berkeley, Calif.;
and Harold, New Castle, Ind.; a daughter, Mrs.
J.A. Jacobs, Urbana, Ill. and fifteen grandchildren.
Friends may call after 1 p.m.today
at the Frautscfhi funeral home, 120 E.
Wilson st. Burial
will be in Forest Hill cemetery.

Yup, that was him. Our relation was Mary Corlett. I was looking for children. It seems they did not have any but ad
opted a George.

Yes, thank you. That is them. George Caine was some sort of relative of Mary Corlett.
