I'm researching "my" Anderson family in Jefferson county georgia. don't know if these are the same ones, but perhaps we could compare notes. my gg grandparents were Mary Anne (possibly Williams, or Thompson) and Daniel Anderson. his mother was Levenia Anderson. Have other info if this may be the same family.

Jones, another one of our "cousins" told me that your Elizabeth "Betsy" Anderson was the daughter of James Anderson Sr. and Rachael Beasley. If so we are kin on several counts, Anderson, Perdue and Beasley. I don't know ANYONE else who is researching this Anderson line and would really like to hear from you.

I am decended from James Anderson's marriage to Lavina Reeves Phillips Anderson after Rachael's death. They had two children, Daniel (b. 1838) and Samuel. I am from Daniel. I am also decended from William and Judah Perdue thorugh Martha Bealsey Perdue and John Perdue. Martha and Rachael were half sisters, i believe.

I don't know who James Anderson's parents were. My grandfather, who died in 1962 at 82 years, said that they had come from Virginia, were buidlers and masons. Another family member said in the 1950's (she was elderly then) that the family had orginally come from Scotland and that James was pronounced in the old way: "jims".

This is last part is all family legend and i have no documentation of this information.

In the early 1840's people who had received land grants had to reaffirm their right to them. James Anderson Jr. affirmed before the court in March 1843 for both Viney Phillips, now the lawful wife of James Anderson Sr. and for Abraham Beasley. (Georgia Land Lottery Papers 1805-1914)

Interestingly, it was first entered as NOT the lawful wife....and reentered a few days later as NOW.

I don't know what became of Samuel Anderson. the only children i know about from the first (assuming it was his first) are James Jr. and your Elizabeth. do you know of others?

Lavina (Viney) 's son by her first marriage to Wilder Phillips lived next door. His name was William Phillips.

Daniel continued to live on the Anderson farm. He married Mary Ann Williams, d/o Thomas Jefferson (Jefferson) Williams and Barbary Faglier Williams. They had several children. He died rather young. my ancestor was their son, Andrew Marcus (Marcus) Anderson. He married Suzannah Wylanta (Lanta) Perdue, d/o John and Martha Beasley Perdue, Martha was the d/o Abraham Beasley and Mary Armstrong, John was the s/o William Perdue Sr. and Judah Thompson Perdue.

When I told you we were kin more than once, i was not kidding.

I have more detail on the decendants if you want it.

I would love to hear from you. I don't know of anyone else researching this Anderson line

Brenda, here comes another "cousin" entering into the conversation. Do you know if Margaret Beasley was a sister to Rachel Beasley and the other Beasleys you mentioned? I think she probably was but I have never seen the family listed and by 1850 when they did list the families, Margaret had married Barnabas (Barney) Chesley Gay 2 years earlier. In talking to others, we think these girls must have been sister and were the daus. of Abraham Beasley. Margaret was born in Burke county I think, but she was married in Jeff. Co., had 2 children and died before the 1860 census.
Regarding the Anderson surname. My uncle was John Anderson who married Sallie Eula Howell - they were from Richmond Co. but close to the Jefferson County land. John was born about 1893 (?) and I wonder which Anderson family he came from. He met his future wife through church - methodist - one in Hephzibah. Any info. on John Dent Anderson? Jean
