Looking for parents of STEPHEN BUCK .1755 in ? m. Elizabeth (Collins) Cobb...widow of Edward Cobb, in 1786.
She had six kids and the two of them had sons: Jasper, Stephen, John who came to Illinois about 1830. Have land deed copies from Bertie Co., but need info on Elizabeth's parents...possibly Luke COLLINS....and where Stephen was b. as well as his parents. Have checked records in Bertie before, but haven't found marriage date for sure. Stephen was in Rev. War...and ensign in the Navy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Surnames: Collins, Jackson
Elizabeth Collins was born in Bertie County 1831.
Her father was James Collins born 1810. He lived in the
Indian Woods area of Bertie County. Elizabeth Collins
moved from Indian Woods to Plymouth in Bertie county.
Elizabeth married William Henry Jackson. They had 10 children.

Has anyone info about Stephen Buck of Bertie Co NC who m Elizabeth Cobb 6 (or 1) Nov 1778. He was an ensign in Capt Elisha Rhodes company of the First North Carolina militia commanded by Col Samuel Carves(5 June 1780)

Taken from Joe Cobb's book on Bertie Co. in response to Frank Lyman's inquiry concerning Stephen Buck.
1.Stephen Buck m. Edward Cobb's widow, Elizabeth, who was formerly a Collins.
2.At the May court of 1784 a deed of sale of a tract of land from James Baker and Mary Wiulliams to Stephen Buck was proven by the oath of John Lawrence.3
3.A deed dated Jan. 29, 1795 aand witnessed by Stephen Buck and Thomas Harden.
4.May court of 1784, permission was granted to Stephen Buck, Henry Cobb, and Thomas Whitmell Pugh to build a grist and sawmill across Bear Swamp. The same court appointed Luke Collins, Thomas Sutton, John Hopkins and Edward Griffin to measure off one acre of land from the property of Henry Cobb for the purpose of building the grist and saw mill
5.Edward Cobb died in 1778 after he was listed on the 1778 tax list. Stephen Buck m. Edward's widow on the 6th Nov. 1779. Buck filed an inventory of the estate of Edward on the 9th Nov., 1779. On the 11th 1779 Stephen buck, Wm. Lawrence, and Andrew South were bonded in the amopunt of 3000 lbs. in order for Stephen Buck to be the administrator of the estate of Edward Cobb.
6.there is no proof that Elizabeth was a Collins except that the Collins family was closely tied to the Cobbs.

This probably won't help at all, but I have a copy of the will of Thomas Harden dated Sept. 2, 1856 in which he leaves a Stephen Buck $5. I have no idea who this Stephen Buck is though. Just thougt I would let you know.

The Stephen Buck mentioned in the will was probably the son of the Stephen Buck of who everyone is trying to find parents and other ancestors.
