There are Megginsons, Fergusons, Davidsons, and McCoys mentioned in Featherston's " book and/or in the 1850 and 1860 Appomattox Co. censuses. Email me if you have specific names or dates and want additional information. I would like to know the names of the parents of Mathew Farrar, who married Martha Megginson (a twin), and James Farrar, who married Mariah Megginson, Martha's sister. Martha and Mariah were the daughters of William Megginson and Amanda Bocock. Mathew and James Farrar may be brothers. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your reply.I don't know much about the Fergusons. I know Frances (Fannie) was my GGrandmother. I'm not sure if Samuel was her brother or some very close relative. When I was a small child, I heard him referred to as "Big Sam". He may have been in some type of politics. Frances" father may have been named Preston, and her mother Mary. She did have siblings. I have a little info. on a Samuel L. Ferguson. It came from rootsweb. It lists 5 sisters. (You may already have this info.) 1.Mary E., 2.Maggie, 3.Emma Vernon, 4.Clara, and Leslie F. I dont see a Frances. I feel there is some connection, between your Fergusons and mine. If I find anything in my search, that sounds familiar from your letter, I will send it to you. Good Luck. Bob

my Samuel Ferguson from Appomattox County VA married a
McCoy and they had several children - luther, Warren Johnson, Savan, and Callie. I have only come across two sisters of Samuel's Nancy and Lucy.
maybe these families connect somewhere along the lines,
but as of now I can't find a connection. If we together
can find a connection, I'll be gald to share what information I have.

I have a Samuel Ferguson in my tree; he married Adelia Celestia Mann, sister to my g-grandmother, Clara Matilda Mann.

Samuel and Adelia (known affectionately as "Aunt Delie") had several children; one of them was Rachel Ferguson who married a Lawson.

I never met Samuel or Adelia, but I knew Rachel F. Lawson as she and my grandmother were first cousins; they spent a lot of time together in Appomattox.

There is a biography of Samuel Ferguson in the History of Virginia series, which can be found on Family Archive CD #205 from Family Tree Maker/Broderbund.

I will take a look and see if it mentions a sister for Samuel.

Frances,

If your great-grandfather's name was Samuel Ferguson, and your great-grandmother's first name was Adelia, then her full name was Adelia Celestia Mann -- not McCoy as you have noted in your message of 11/1999.

I have quite a bit of info on this family, as my great-grandmother, Clara Matilda Mann, was the sister of your Adelia Celestia Mann.
