Monica: Yes there are Cherokee connections in the Moreland line. I'm looking for a Will Moreland who had a Cherokee mother in Arkansas. He died about 1925-29. Can you help me? Rose

Monica: Thank you for answering my note. Yes, I would be interested in your material.
There were several children that died and about five or six that lived. Several marriages, and then the father died in 1929, when they changed the name to Morlan and moved to the west coast. They also have cherokee native american background on the paternal side. Thank you. Rose.

Monica,

I am related to your MORELAND line, this is what
I have in my database on your Davis H.MORELAND:

I have his as Davis MORELAND bn 1819 in High Shoals,
Lincoln,NC. His father was Thomas MORELAND of Surry Co., NC,bn ca 1798
d.? probably in High Shoals,NC. Davis' mother was
Delilah Elizabeth ADAMS.

Thomas MORELAND was the son of my 3rd-great-grand
father, Joseph MORELAND and Sarah THORNON, dau of
William THORNTON and Sarah ARVIN.

Davis H. MORELAND died in 1890 in Montague Co.,
TX. My Great-Grandfather, Joseph MORELAND (another
Joseph) was the grandson of Joseph and Sarah mentioned
above. Joseph was living in Spanish Fort,Montague,TX
in early 1900's. I believe Davis died in Sunset,
Montague,TX. Will have to dig through my
files.

Davis married Delilah in the year of 1841.

This is what I copied from my database PAF
program:
See 1870-1880 Dallas Co.,Washington TWNShip,
Missouri,censuses for residence Davis MORELAND,
fought in the 24th MO Vol. Inf. Regt. in the Civil War with his bro-in-law,
Cornelius GANN and his nephews, John and
Daniel DOOLEY. Info from Paul T. Butler, from
GANN Family Hist. Soc.

Notes for Thomas MORELAND:
Census: 1820 Rutherford Co.,NC, 1830 Rhea Co,
TN,1840 Hamilton Co., TN submitted by Loretta
Widdows-Moreland Muster Newsletter 92/93 Winter
edition.
Marriage Bond #135340 Rutherford Co.,NC no date

I have been doing research on this family for over
25 yrs. I have more info if you would like to share.
What does the H. stand for? Henry?
