Looking for anyone who knows about Massachusetts, particularly Berkshire County, towns of Adams and Cheshire.

My grandparents were Jan Jajko b. 1884 in Poland d. 1960 in Cheshire, MA s/o Frank Jajko and Bronislawa Rynkowa Jajko(she may have been his stepmother) I don't know when he came through Ellis Island, probably headed for Adams. He was a millhand and then owned a farm.

Marya (Marianna) Tarka was b. 1890 in Kanna, Poland d. 1955 in Cheshire, MA. d/o Joseph Tarka and Elzbieta Trac.

She may have had a brother Albert (Wojcech or Wojciech) for whom I have Ellis Island "Admission of Alien" paper, but he is not listed on Ellis Island internet. He arrived Oct. 28, 1907 from Kanna, Austria age 21 therefore born 1886. He came on the S.S. Caledonia of the Anchor Line. His Manifest # 17-26.

Albert Tarka was going to his sister Marya Fail, 17 Crowell Ave., Adams, MA. I cannot locate her. There is no family story that the Marya Tarka who married Jan Jajko was Marya Fail.

Anna Tarka was Marya's sister. Anna married first Soja, second Toporowski. She had children by both. I just read the 1999 obituary of Edna Stefanik of Adams. She was born 1921 in Adams d/o Albert and Anna Tarka Toporoski.
She was survived by several Toporowski brothers in Cheshire, one in Rotterdam, NY and a sister Frances Lamb of Burnt Hills, NY. There used to be a Lamb's Garage in Cheshire.

I was born in Cheshire but traveled to Westfield to be baptized on March 28, 1951 by Rev. Albert Tarka, Jr.at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. I think that the families were Polish Catholics not Roman Catholics. He later left the priesthood and became a lawyer (?) in NYC, Maryland or Delaware. His wife was Wanda and they had a daughter Melanie and a son.

I really need help puting together where all these people came from and when. Kanna, Galicia, Austria, Czechoslavakia, Ukraine - I know that the area changed political boundaries many times, but the ethnicity remained Polish.

Looking primarily for immigration records for JAN JAJKO and MARYA TARKA. All this extraneous info is to help pinpoint who exactly I'm looking for.

Thank you.
Mary

Hi! Hope you're still there (here?). Ann Gradziel Tinney and I are second cousins. Her mother and my mother were good friends, and Stan and my father Joe Jayko were cousins. I was a bridesmaid in Ann's 1969 wedding. Are you a daughter of the brother who took over the farm on Fred Mason Road?

Thanks for the info, I'll copy it to my tree, and if you reply, we can figure out if I can help you back!

Amazing how long messages go unread, isn't it?
