The mystery of William Cord

I cannot locate any information on my grandmother's father, William Cord. I find my g-grandmother Lillian (Lillie) Cord age 6, starting in the 1880 census in Flemingsburg, Fleming, KY. Her father, John E Cord is a widower in 1880 and in 1900 Lilly is living with another Cord family. I believe she married soon after that census and the story is that her husband was William Cord, a third cousin. They had 2 children, Sally born about 1900 and Rose, my grandmother born 1903. William was supposedly killed in a buggy accident in 1903. In 1905 Lily married Charles Lewis Cochran and in the 1910 census, Sally age 10 and Rosa age 6 are among their other children and the family is living in Greenup, KY.
I have not been able to find a marriage license for Lillian and William or a death notice for William. There are a number of William Cords in Fleming but without any other info I can't pin point him.
