NEED HELP - DEAD END - Possible Milwaukee link

Surnames: SCHMITZ (SCHMIDT?), KNAPP
Have reached dead end. Possible lead in Milwaukee, WI. Looking for any information on John Knapp born about 1845 (*/- 5 yrs) and wife Mary (Maria?) Schmitz born about 1850 (+/- 3 yrs). Both in 1880 WI, Iowa County, Linden township census.

John Knapp immigrated from Hesse-Darmstadt around the mid-1850's. His father's name is believed to be George. Have no further information. Mary (Maria) Schmitz (Schmidt?) immigrated from Prussia about the early 1860's. Her mather is Mary (Maria) (Zander) Schmitz and father is believed to be Peter. Her mother was living with them as Smith in the 1880 census - born around 1810 in Prussia.

Found a John Knapp from Hesse-Darmstad and Mary Knapp from Prussia living in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, WI in the 1870 census with a daughter Elizabeth age 2 born WI. The ages are about right and their birth places are correct but cannot verify that this is them. Also there is no daughter Elizabeth living with them in the 1880 Iowa County census.

Found a Peter and Mary Schmidt born Prussia ages 60 in the 1870 Milwaukee Ward 9, WI census. No children living with them. Again, cannot tie them in as being the correct family.

Looking for birth information on Elizabeth Knapp born about 1868 probably in Milwaukee. Also looking for marriage information on John and Mary Knapp - probably married around 1867-68. Lastly looking for any informaiton on immigration or naturalization of John, George Knapp of Hesse-Darmstadt and same for Peter and Mary and daughter Mary Schmitz (Schmidt) of Prussia. Mother's name believed to be Maria Agnes and daughter is Maria Catherine.

If this is them in Milwaukee, then there is probably a death certificate for daughter Elizabeth Knapp somewhere between 1870-1880. Any and all help appreciated.

"... If this is them in Milwaukee, then there is probably a death certificate for daughter Elizabeth Knapp somewhere between 1870-1880. Any and all help appreciated."

You've probably already found out that there likely isn't a death certificate for daughter Elizabeth Knapp, d. 1870-1880, unless a coroner was involved. But there would be a burial event listed in some church register. Those are generally not the same as a cemetery record. If you find the burial record in the church register, then it's worth checking for a baptism record too.

There is Wisconsin Marriages for a Eliz Catherine Knapp and Nicholas James Reger he's from Mineral Point too (10-31-1892 in Milwaukee) It gives her father as John Knapp and mother is Mary C Schmitz....

This same Eliz Reger has a record in the Illinois Death index....

Eliz had a sister - Lena and she was married in Mineral Point....to Charles Mitchell (7-31-1906) - this time mom's name is Mary Cathrine Schmitt

And Annie married to Jacob Unterholzner (m 5-13-1907in Mineral Point) mother is Mary Schmidt

John and Mary C are living with daughter Rose Quick in 1910 and their son Anton is there too....
