I have access to death & funeral notices published in the Cairns Post from 1986 up to the present.
The Cairns library also has microfishe death records much later than the Qld online records.
I'm more than happy to do some look ups in my lunch times.

Do you know if the death records you mentioned would cover the Ingham area as well, from the 1920's onward?

Hi Teresa,
No sorry, I'm sure Ingham had it's own paper in the 1920s.
There is a reference to the Herbert River Express in the NAA site.
Also, have you tried the Ingham historical society? They might have archives of the papers.

This is a long shot, but can you check and see if there is an entry for a Charles William Gurney who died, I have been told by Queensland BDMs, on 25/8/1986 I think in Cairns but not sure. i was up there recently and the Cairns Council could not find his name in their cemeteries.
I would love to find where he was buried.

I'm searching for a funeral or death notice for my g uncle, Brian George Richards, in Cairns, late 2009. We don't know the date, only found out he passed away last week. I can't find anything on the net. If you have time, I'd appreciate your help.

Hi Julie, I have the notice at home so will get it to you tonight. I index the Cairns Post death notices for The Ryerson Index http://www.ryersonindex.org/ and his death notice was in the paper on 8th Sep 2009. This is a handy reference for lots of deaths. Regards Naomi
