Yeah, I have some info on her kin. My ggggrandfather Harwell
Walker b. 1825 Izard co. Ark. was the son of John A. Walker
and Ellender Chism. Ellender Chism was supposedly a
daughter of a Chism father and a Dark mother. Hartwell
applied on the Dawes Commission but was rejected because
he didn't know "granny" Darks first name. Go figure! Anyway,
Hartwell B. Walker married Elizabeth Gray who was the
daughter of John Gray and Elizabeth Chism. Now, from what
I gather, Elizabeth, Ben and Ellender are possibly all kids
of Chism dad and Dark mom. So far, I haven't figured out if
they were all from supposedly Elisha Chism and Winnifred,
Elisha and Elizabeth "Springflower" Dark or maybe there are
two different Chism dads in Izard. One made children with
Winnifred and the other made kids with Springflower! I'm still
looking. So, how are you related to this mystery? Maybe we
can share info. I have quite alot I'd be willing to share. Stay
in touch and Happy Hunting! What's your email address?

I just found out that my Kenner/Uhles family is related to this line.
My great-grandmother was Nora Leah Uhles, the daughter of Ellen Walker and Don Carlos Uhles/Uhls. I have figured out that Ellen was the daughter of John William Walker and Julia Ann Taylor.
John Williams parents were John A. Walker and Ellender Nellie Chism
John A. Walker was the son of John Walker and Caroline Blair and Ellender Nellie Chism was the daughter of Benjamin Elisha Chism and Springflower Dark.
I have been searching for the Cherokee Connection for 40 years.
Family stories handed down through Nora's children and grandchildren was that her mother was a Taylor and that her mother was Nellie Chism, who was taken from her parents off the Trail of Tears and put into an Indian school.
Up until this past week I was not able to find Nora with her mother. But a kind distant cousin found the link I was looking for. Nora and her mother Ellen was listed in Izard County, Arkansas in 1880 under the name of Oulds, with Ellen's children from a Joseph Cook. I knew that the marriage record from Norah and Samuel Eskridge Kenner from Madison County, Arkansas show's Nora's name of Nolds. We have always used the Uhles/Uhls name.
I know that Nora named one of her sons Vol Walker Kenner. So it shows that she didn't want the Walker name to be forgotten by the family.
Ellen then married a Melton and evidently had two sons, Clarence and Oscar Melton. They can be found in the 1900 Madison County, Arkansas census.
Evidently this family stayed in Izard County, Arkansas for a long time. Nora and her family moved to Oklahoma and then on to California. All of her children had since died. I would love to hear from the any of the descendants of Cook, Walker, Melton, Kenner. I will be happy to share any information that I have with them.
