Wish I could help, but my Stephensons were in Strathroy and Caradoc Township in Middlesex. Funny how the names are close .. in Caradoc I have a Margaret (Minnie) Stephenson who married a Sam Paisley.
My Stephensons were from East and old West Ridings of Yorkshire, and came first to the Hamilton area in Ontario in 1855 ... coming to Strathroy in about 1863 -4

From your email name, I'm wondering if you live in Strathroy. I grew up in Lobo Township and Ilderton. You may contact me directly at scshenderson2@gmail.com.

Thank you very very much. This gives a lot of information that I had never heard of, plus it explains why I didn't think that I found the gravestone for him and his wife. (My ancestor was his first wife.)
Did you have to go to the Age "Disgrace" to find this or are their obituaries online now?

You can look at the old Strathroy newspapers (on micro film) at different places .. I have seen it at the main London Library .. also Weldon Lib .. at UWO. But I search it at Strathroy Library (1870 - almost present date) also it has been indexed for births/ marrages / deaths for the years 1870 - 1949 ... so if there is a death .. you think might have got in the Strath papers ... the index helps a lot.
The history of the Strathroy paper .. is that at one point the town had two papers (the Age & the Dispatch)..... so they came together and formed one paper in about 1923 or so.
So for some years in the late 1800's both the Age and the Dispatch are available to search (again on Micro-film) ... but it is only the Age that is indexed (at Strathroy anyway .. don't know if the other locations have the index book)
I could also add the Strath. Library also has early Parkhill and Glencoe newspapers .. along with Middlesex County Census records {1841 - 1911} again all on mico film
