I am looking for my Grandpa's family. The only info I have is the following- He came to the US in 1929. He worked on ships. His parents are Alex & Augusta Christiansen (?). He was born in Copenhagen, Denmark & was 20 yrs old when he came to the US. He married Lois Hamilton & had 2 kids. I do not have any more info about him before he came here. If anyone has nay info, please contact me.

I have found an Erik Christiansen arriving in the USA on 23 Sep 1929 on the S.S. United States from Copenhagen. According to the manifest he is 20 years old and born in Copenhagen. He lists his nearest relative as his mother Olga Christiansen of 11 Kg. Georgavej, Copenhagen.

I found Olga Anna? Karla Christiansen in the 1930 Danish census for Kong Georgsvej 11, København. She was born in København on 31 Jan 1889 and is divorced.

Is this your Erik?

Sincerely,
Paul
North Carolina, USA

Hi

Axel Christiansen and Augusta Caroline Eriksen.

I found some informations about these two in
http://www.politietsregisterblade.dk/index.php?lang=en

I enclose 2 images.

The first is issued in 1908 and they lived in Nansensgade 55
1 may 1909 moved to Schacksgade 1, where the 2 boys are born.
The next say: Udgaaet - means that they moved out of
Copenhagen police district.
20 april 1918 they came from Frederiksberg to Nørrefarigmagsgade.
Then they left Copenhagen. It does not say when.

The second image show that Axel Christiansen came back to
Copenhagen from Aarhus 1,december 1921 and that he was a
widower.

So Augusta Caroline must have died between 1911 and 1921.
--

Olga Anna Karla Christiansen who Paul found in the 1930 Cemsus was in 1916
married to Axel Christiansens brother Valdemar Christiansen.
They divorced between 1925 and 1928, when Valdermar married again
to Gerda Kirstine. They had a daughter Ellen born 1929.

In the 1925 Census Erik Christiansen lived with Valdemar and Olga in Falconer Alle 36.

Hi Flemming,

Just some thoughts about Erik Christiansen. As per the attached 1929 manifest, he lists Olga Christiansen as his mother. This would lead me to believe that after the death of his mother he was raised by Valdemar and Olga Christensen. This would indicate to me that his mother Augusta died closer to 1911 than 1921. What are your thoughts?

Med venlig hilsen
Paul

Thank you so much for all the info. I didn't know anything about my Grandpa before he came to the states & have always wonder about that side of my family. I had no clue if there was any family lefted or if any family memebers came to the US. It means so much to know something about my family.

Thank you Debi
