My ggaunt, Nora Finnegan, of Brosna married a Corneilous Sullivan (I believe also from Brosna) around 1880 in Brosna. Corneilous Sullivan came to San Francisco in 1884 and Nora came 3 years later in 1887 with their 3 young children - John, Nora and Elizabeth. Corneilous Sullivan was born around 1859 and died in San Francisco in 1921. His obituary states he was survived by a sister, Elizabeth (who was married to John Callaghan and who were then living in San Francisco).
If any of the above connects with your family history please let me know.

Have you tried the Irish civil records for the children's births and for their deaths? Or the 1901 census? Or is that where you got your info?

See link below to a detailed on-line article on these records.

Hi may name is Maureen O'Sullivan Butler. Here is data I have about your Sullivans. Would love to share any data you might have. I hope you are still reachable after all this time..

Descendants of John Sullivan

Generation No. 1

1. JOHN1 SULLIVAN was born in Brosna (Probable), Co. Kerry, Ireland, and died 1899 in Brosna (Probable), Co. Kerry, Ireland. He married JULIA O'CONNELL 1860. She was born 1835 in Ireland, and died 1920 in Brosna (Probable), Co. Kerry, Ireland.

Notes for JOHN SULLIVAN:
The family lived in Brosna, Co. Kerry, Ireland in the townland variously spelled Knegare, Kenegar, Cuinnegar, Cuinnigear, and Cunigair.

In the Griffith's Valuation for Brosna East in 1852, Johanna Sullivan is shown as the lessor for 72 acres of land. She is probably John's mohter. In the 1829 Tithe Applotents for Brosna, two Sullivans are identified as occupants of land in Cnuigar: Daniel Sullian and John Sullivan.

Family tradition has it that John Sullivan made two trips to the United States to collect money and clothes for the community. The photograph (?) of him is thought to be taken in the US in the 1880s.

The 1911 Census of Ireland indicates Julia was married for 39 years. If John died in 1899, that would put the marriage around 1860.

Generation No. 2

2. ELLEN2 SULLIVAN (JOHN1) was born in Cunnigear, Brosna, Co. Kerry, Ireland. She married (1) JOHN KEEFE 11 Nov 1880 in Brosna Catholic Church, Brosna County Kerry, Ireland, son of PATRICK KEEFE. He was born in Probable, Dromstrana, Co. Limerick. She married (2) HARRIS Aft. 1890.

Notes for JOHN KEEFE:
From "Johnny Collins Recalls the Past in Abbeyfeale" in Macalla Na Mainistreach (Echoes of the Abbey), Published by Abbeyfeale Commitee for Glor na NGael, Number 3, 1998, p. 7

John O'Keeffe of Dromstrasna
John O'Keeffe lived near Dromstrasna School where he and his brother were tenants to farms. At the time of the land agitation, bailiffs were eviciting tenants and seizing cattle in Dromstrasna. The tenants could not afford to pay the high rents demanded the the Landlords, and, as a result, the bailiffs were sent in. The cattle had been seized by the bailiffs when a large crown of tenants gathered and attacked them over the Meenehela road beyond Dromstrasna School. The aim of the attach was tofree the cattle, as the tenants were runied with their stock.

John O'Keefe came on the scene late and combatant yelled at him "Come on, John O'Keeffe!" As a result O'Keefe was identified by the bailiffs and the police and was arrested later and sent to Cork jail for 10 years. One night, his cell in the jail was flooded by a broken water-pipe and, as the door was water-tight, O'Keeffe was suberged in the water until the following morning when he was found, stiff from the cold. He died from pheumonia a couple of days afterwards and was, in effect, a martyr for the cause of thh Abbeyfeale Tenants.
Sadly, he is not commemorated in the locality and should be remembered in some practical manner. He was made a scape-goat by the Landlords and the police for the actions of the tenants who were campaigning for justice from the tyrants who owned the land at the time.

Thank you MosButler for your Sullivan lineage posting, it filled in a lot of blanks for me. My gggrt grandfather was Patrick Connell, b: 1825, I believe a brother to Julia Connell, b: 1838 in Co. Limerick.
I would love to connect with you; Patrick Connell married Mary Connor and had: 9 kids that I have listings for each. I'm interested in tracing further back for Julia & Patrick's parents, I believe they also had brother's James & possibly John as they were both witnesses for Julia & Patrick's kids baptisms. Please e-mail me at your convenience: Hztrexplr@hotmail.com, Thanks, Kevin.
