Sorry for the delay. Interested in a William Irwin who was married to Sarah Lewis Knox in Whitehead on 1 Sept 1919 by Rev David Brown Knox, Presbyterian Minister at Whitehead. She was born in Belfast and William Irwin and she were neighbours in Thorndale Avenue (Nos 22 and 28) in 1911 census. He was booking clerk and probably posted to Whitehead by railway company. Her address at marriage also Whitehead and I wonder if D B Knox was an uncle. Her father Joseph Knox born Co Antrim ca 1853. Does anyone have more information about this family? (John Armoy Knox was a brother of D B Knox.)

Many thanks

Thank you very much indeed for a very prompt and full reply. Joseph Knox (or a Joseph Knox) was still in Thorndale Avenue in 1918 (but at No 30) and the only Knox in Whitehead at the time was David B Knox. So it seems likely that Joseph and his family moved to Whitehead shortly after the directory was compiled meaning that Sarah Lewis Knox's residence in Whitehead was at the family home.
This reduces the chance of there being any connection with David Brown Knox and certainly none seems to exist from the information you supplied.

Thank you again.

Many thanks. I didn't know that it was possible to look up deaths on the Belfast Council website. Very useful.

William Irwin and Sarah Lewis Knox were said to have had two daughters, one marrying a Haworth and one a McKelvey. Anyone have more details?

Yes, that's the problem. I must gather a number of queries together and go down to the GRO. Last time I was there it was very productive.

Many thanks.
