Can anyone assist me, I have for some time been trying to find information on or about the 52nd Home Guard (Wakefield) Battalion in which my father served with during WW11.
Many thanks

The 52nd Battalion – West Riding Home Guard [Wakefield] was one of the WWII raised battalions of the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry [ KOYLI] and there may be some records in the Regimental archive in Pontefract, I suggest you email them. See http://www.doncaster.gov.uk/leisure_in_doncaster/museums_and...

If they can’t help the National Archives may have something in the Home Guard records see http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?s...

His Home Guard service record is still with the MoD Army but you can get a copy see http://www.veterans-uk.info/ > service records > scroll down and click on army icon.
