Seeking information on Burrell Alexander CLANTON, b. 1785 in Spartanburg SC, married to a woman named Rhoda, also from Spartanburg. Migrated to Alabama after marriage; at least 3 kids, William James (b. 1827), Frank, and Charles. Any info on Burrell or Rhoda or anyone related to either of them will be greatly appreciated.

Rhoda is Rhoda Moore

Burrell's wife was Rhoda Moore, said to be daughter of a William Moore.
Believe (but not positive) that Burrell is son of Ephraim Clanton.
I know he was in Kershaw County, SC, before Clarke Co., Ala; When was
he in Spartenburg? Tom.

I'm afraid this is second-hand information. My uncle gave me this data, stating that Burrell Alexander Clanton was born in Spartanburg in 1785 (wife Rhoda Jane Moore b. 1786 NC, daughter of William and Rebecca-- marriage in 1807, and both died in Clarke Co. AL). He didn't source it, so I don't know where he got the info. I think he's a do-it-yourself researcher, but he could have gotten this from a pair of elderly aunts who worked on the family tree up until 20 years ago -- and, bless their hearts, I've found a good bit of it to be inaccurate. I just start with the info I glean from family members and go from there to prove/disprove it's accuracy. (Maybe that's what the Aunts, did, too. Uh-oh...) Perhaps that's not the best way to go about it, but how else does one approach it? Anyway, I'll let you know if I can find documentation one way or another. Thanks for your interest and input. :)
