I recently hit paydirt when I looked up the Esch family in a set of books, now out of print, at the Dallas Public Library. The set of books is in German, titled "Deutsches geschlecterbuch", which translates to German relationships.
I believe your branch of the family may be listed in the same line as mine. The listing traces this branch back to 1660. I am in the process of getting help in reading the old German script. I have five years of German, but the script is difficult for me to read. I have a friend locally who is first generation American from Germany. She is researching their genealogy in the old German script and reads it quite well.
The Esch family genealogy has been traced back to 1067 AD (the Crusades). There was royalty in the family, so the records were maintained. The Esch family is a HUGE one, and there are many branches.

. I will be happy to share what I've learned. I've already found two other distant cousins from my more recent direct line. I'd love to see how closely we're related. I'll look forward to hearing further from you.
