I am looking for information on the family of
Timothy Joseph Gallivan who died 12/9/1899 at
the age of 75. He immigrated from Cork,
Ireland and was married to Margaret O'Neal
for about 50 years. They lived in Missouri
His father's name was the same as his. He had
several brothers who came over from Ireland
with him, one of whom I believe was named
Jerrimiah Gallivan who was the sponsor of
Timothy J. Gallivan at his baptism in Dec.
of 1910.

My g-grandfather Mortimer Gallivan had sons Timothy and Jeremiah. Mortimer was born in 1826 in either Kerry or Cork. His father's name was John. Mortimer would be the same generation as your Timothy but obviously not brothers. Do you have any info as to where in Cork Timothy came from?

Hi My g.grandfather was Daniel Gallivan, born c. 1833 in Kerry (I think), his parents were John Gallivan and Mary Moran. Daniel named one son Mortimer.
Don't know when Daniel immigrated, but shows up on the 1890 Cambridge, Mass. street directory. I'm looking for siblings of Daniel.

This is exiting. This is the first possible sibling of my ggrandfather I have come across. My Mortimer's father was John and his mother was Mary. He also named a son Daniel. E-mail me at ggalliva@mediaone.net.

Did the Gallivans you mentioned immigrate to USA? If so, where did they live?

My g-grandfather Mortimer was born in 1826, settled in Braintree, MA. There were other Gallivans in the area but I have not established any connections yet. There was a James Gallivan born in 1836 who settled in Franklin, MA. His parents were Cornelius Gallivan and Margaret Bresnahan. If you e-mail me at ggalliva@mediaone.net I can arrange to send you more info on my tree.

For what it is worth, I'll throw this into the mix: while searching my Gallivan/Galvin ancestors, I came across a death record for Patrick Galvin born c. 1843 whose parents were Jerry Galvin and Nance McCallum. Also, the death record for another Patrick Gallivan born c.1841, whose parents were Mortimer Gallivan and Catherine Connor. All lived in the Cambridge, MA area.
