I AM LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON GEORGE WASHINGTON HARDBARGER. HE IS MY GREAT GRANDFATHER. HE WAS BORN IN RITCHIE COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA(1905?). HE MARRIED ELSIE HOOVER. THEY LIVED IN OHIO. I THINK THERE IS A LOT OF INFO OUT THERE, BUT IT IS TOO SKETCHY. NOTHING FITS TOGETHER RIGHT. WE ALL ARE LOOKING FOR THE SAME PEOPLE THAT HAVE TO BE VERY CLOSELY RELATED. Replying to message of Terry Pontious, Geo. W. Hardbarger 1850-1920 was youngest son of Jacob who was second oldest son of Thomas from Augusta and Rockbridge Counties in Va. I come down from Frederick Stephen 1823-1892 who was older brother of Jacob and oldest
son of Thomas. The born an died dates on the Thomas grave in W.Va. are wrong--both of them. Thomas was a son of Abraham who was a son of Frederick who showed up in 1792 in Rockbridge County, Virginia (formed in 1778)to sign marriage bond for daughter Mary Qwin to marry John Jacob Spears. Do you have anything on Frederick or his wife Elizabeth before or after the 1792 date--in addition to the marriage (2nd)record of Elizabeth in 1801? I'd like to be in touch with anyone with documented dope on this family prior to 1800. Also can't make connection to the Daniel bunch from Tennessee or the Henry family from Va. (Henry md. Polly Book 1811.

I believe my mother (Vera Pauline (Hardbarger) Holdren is one of the nieces of Denver Hardbarger. She is 85 years old and may have information of interest to you. Her father Ernest Hardbarger is one of the Hardbargers that live(d) in Richland County WV.

Elderly (!) descendents of George Hardbarger, which were born to Ernest and Anna (Wade?) Hardbarger, are alive. These people include include Lilian Nethers, Vera Pauline Holdren, Gerldine (sp?) Hardbarger, Edgel Hardbarger, and Leroy Hardbarger. Two of brothers (Clearance and Carl Hardbarger have died). They all are/were wonderful people! I am son of Dallas . Son of Thomas Henry Hardbarger and Fanny/Fannie (mitchell) Hardbarger . I believe Thomas was born in Rockbridge Co. VA. My father:Dallas Hardbarger ,his brother was also born in Ritchie Co.WVA. My grandfather was Thomas Henry Hardbarger -He Married Francis Virginia Mitchell. They had sons Clinton,Ernest,George,Earl,and my father Dallas. They are all now deceased. George lived in Ashville OH until his death approx 5 yrs ago. Has living son Kenneth still living in Ashville OH-Franklin Co. I think.

Pauline is my first cousin. She is a daughter of Ernest-A son of Thomas Hardbarger and Francis(Mitchell) Hardbarger of Ritchie Co. WVA. My father's name was Dallas Hardbarger-Ernest's brother. Pauline has a brother-Edgel-Living in Galena Ohio or close by. Her mother's name was Anna. I can go back to my grandfather (Thomas')father -Jacob-need to go back from there. Hope this helps.
