Looking for info on my g-g-g'father,
and/or his wife, Albertina Wilhelmina Louisa
Augusta Kobs, b. 1867. Both born in
Gutenschacht, Germany. They had a slew of
kids, mostly in Neena, Wisconsin, and
Milwaukee. Hoping for a linkup!

Hi Dave,
Do you happen to know if your ggg-grandfather had any brothers? We are looking for Hinzs' also. But somewhere around the turn of the century, some changed the spelling from Hintz to Hinz. We go as far back as August Hintz 1856-1933 and he married Ernstein Herritz. They also settled in Wisconsin. Maybe somewhere we have common family. Let me know if you would like any more info. Thanks for your time. BEA

My gg g'mother was Anna Hinz, born in 1897. Her mother's name was Wilhemina(not sure of the spelling). Anna's siblings included: William, Gusta, Mary and Lucy. Anna married Frank Marks and they lived in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Do any of these names sound familiar? Want to know Anna's father's name where he(and Wilhemina(?))were from. Thanks for any info you can share. email: video24f@aol.com

My grandfather was Arthur Hinz. He had a brother and 3 sisters, all of whom died quite young. My grandmother Clara (Janssen) Hinz is 90 years old and living in a nursing home in the Appleton area. Think this is the family you are searching for?

Hi Penny,

Sorry I took so long to get a reply back to you. Would you happen to know your gg grandmothers maiden name?
I'm not finding an Arthur attached anywhere, but who knows. For us it was an August R. Hinz. Does the middle
initial match up?

Thanks for your time and patience.

Pardon me for not doing my complete homework.
Mother in law has Hinz name. I have gone from Augusta Hein to August Hinz or Hine. She had a son Hurbert. They were in the Rock Creek area of Dunn co. Wi. I have found this family in the census. And That is as far as I have gotten. Sometimes it is difficult to read the handwritting on that one that one subscribes to. So I am not sure where from. Pommerania or something similiar. I may try some other census that are on net since i last did the research.
Let me know if your interested.

Have you collected the family death notices for Augusta Kobs Hinz? The family published them in Milwaukee's German papers. There are also entries indexed for a Herman Hinz (74 yr) found in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).

Indexing of these papers started in 2007 and continues today.
