Christine,
Thanks for replying to my message. My father, Edmund Eugene Moots was born in Bloomington, Illinois in 1898. His father, my grandfather, Bunyan Clinton Moots was also born near there. Charles Marion Moots, my great grandfather was born in Champaign County, Ohio. Charles Marion Moots had brothers, James, Conrad, Samuel and Philander. They were all born in Ohio near Adams Township, Champaign County, Ohio, between 1820-1835. Their parents were Charles Moots, Jr. and Mary Moore. Looking forward to learning more about your Moots line.

Amy, is this the Conrad who married Eleanor Strayer? Did they have a son named Denton Strayer Moots living in Bellefontaine, OH? I'm looking for the children Denton and his wife Ada Casebolt had; there were 4: Eva (1877), Frank (1878), Carrie (1883?), and Harrie (1888). I have Ada's family connections back to a family of Quakers named WALKER in 1700s, Bucks Co., PA. My WALKER line remained in PA. Hoping to share this with descendants. Ada's gr-gr-grandfather Walker was the brother of my 4th gr-grandfather Walker. Amy, if you know anything about Denton, please contact me. Thanks.

Hi Elizabeth:
I am not a Moots however I'm looking for information for James Moots here in Alamogordo, NM. He said his grandparents lived in Bloomfield, Ill. He didn't give me his grandgfather's first name but his grandmother's name was Mary (Sweeney). He said she was from Ireland and is looking for any information he can on his family. He's just beginning to look and probably doesn't have alot to share (of course who knows what stories he might have heard). Since you said your father was born there you might know something. Any help you can give me will be much appreciated. Thank You.

Hi Caron,
James is my cousin! Our grandfather's name is Bunyan Clinton Moots who was born, February 10,1869 in Money Creek Township, McLean County, Illinois....near Bloomington, Illinois. He married March 28, 1894 to Mary Helen Sweeney who was also born in McLean County, IL in Bloomington...her father, Edward Sweeney was from Galway, Ireland, his wife was Mary Farrell. Bunyan Clinton Moots' parents were: Charles Marion Moots born February 10, 1832(same birthday as his son) in Champaign County, Ohio and Adeline Busick born in McLean County, IL. Charles Marion's parents were Charles Moots, Jr., Ohio born and Mary Moore born in KY. Charles Moots, Jr.'s parents were Charles Sr. and Annala....last name unknown. Charles Moots, Sr.'s father was John Moots who died in 1803 in Ross County, Ohio. I have tons of family information and would be happy to share more detail with James...just didn't know he was interested. Good to hear from you! Betty

I didn't know he was interested either. he just brought up the subject on Friday so I told him I'd see what I can do. I'm printing what you say so I can give it to him. I don't know how far he wants to go but I'll keep in touch and let you know as he lets me know. I think it all stems from my vacation 2 months ago to Ireland. Maybe it fueled his interest?? Thank you for writing me back.

I think I'm one too. I'm kinda new to this but I'm pretty sure there is a big connection somewhere. I think it started in PA, then Ohio and then Illinois and then from there all over. What I've seem to have found is 3 brothers in PA somewhere in about 1811 or so. I have Charles, George and Conrad. Not so sure but I'll try to verify. Thanks!

Hello I am looking into the Moots line in my family as well. My great grandfather was Charles W Moots. He married Laura Belle Ansel and I believe this was his second wife. I have more on their children ect. Now Laura sister Bertha married Charles brother Olis Frank Moots. They had a set o twin boys in 1899 Alvie Ray and Alvin Roy. It looks like Bertha died in Child birth in 1901 where both the infant girl and mother died. I have found through some cemetary plots the it looks as Olis remarried a Cora. The Halstead Cemetary in Halstead Ks has a Majority of theses people. Laura Belle is buried in the Lyons Ks Cemetary with the Ansel side. Web site called find a grave has pictures of these markers and more. I hope this helps. Any information you can help me with on Charles and Olis parents and before would be greatly appreciated.

Leslie, did you find any information on your Moots ancestors - I have your great grandfather Charles W Moots in my tree (he would have been a 2nd cousin, 3 times removed) and have information back through his g.g.grandfather - let me know if you are still looking for info
