My mother's father is German, Sioux Indian, Danish, and Arberësh Albanian. His father's mother (my great-great grandmother) was the forebearer of the Arberësh descent. She either was born of immigrant Arberësh parents or was an immigrant.
Her family and herself had lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. What I'd like to know is when and where did the group of Albanian immigrants arrive in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
From recent research that I've done, I've discovered that Michigan (which is right next to Wisconsin) is the second largest state in the United States (compared to New York) home to many Albanian immigrants and descendants of immigrants.

My great-great-grandmother on my mother's side was actually born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was her grandparents who were originally from Shkodër, Albania. They followed the Christian faith and spoke Gheghë Albanian. When the invasion of Turkish Muslims began, my descendants quickly left Albania and immigrated to Spezzano Albanese, an Arbërëshë qytete (or village) in Southern Italy. From there, the immigration to Wisconsin began. This makes me 1/6% Albanian.
