Would like to know if anyone knows of a Frances Barrentine (lived in Atlanta in early 1800's). She was my gr-gr-grandmother and was married to a Turner.

Hello Cousin!!!--
Frances Barrentine was also my gr-gr grandmother. She was born ca. 1836 Marlboro Co. SC, dau of Jesse and Elizabeth (Simpson?) Barrentine. She married Peter Turner 1857 (I'll have to look up the exact date, I don't have it in front of me) in Fayette Co GA. I descend from their son Miles Allen Turner b. 11-2-1859 Coweta Co. GA. Many years ago, I remember meeting a Mrs. Coin who was my grandmother's cousin. As I remember, she lived on Tuscaloosa Ave. in Gadsden at the foot of the mountain below Noccalula Falls. Unfortunately, I have no picture of Frances, but I have a good one of her husband Peter Barrentine.

Hello!!
It gave me chill bumps when I read your message. I remember your grandmother and her sister quite well. I have visited with my grandmother, Willie Coin, when I was a child. I believe she lived in Rockmart or Aragon, Ga.
I don't have anything on my grandmother's family other than the name of Frances Barrentine and the fact that she married a Turner. I remember Grandmother telling me that she was Dutch and spoke broken English.
I think that she also said that they were burried at Waco, Ga. I tried to find the cemetary once a few years back, but didn't find anything.
You can contact me at sammyeheald@cs.com if you have any more information on the family. I would love to hear from you.

Hello,
I'm researching Barrentines of Marlboro County. My GGrandmother Was Mary Ellan Barrentine. Her father was Duncan Barrentine and mother was Sophronia Nicholson. Duncans parents were Philip and Lucy Barrentine. It looks like Peter was a brother to Duncan. I have just started working on this line. ANY help is appreciated!!!
Thanks Debi

My ancestor Jesse Barrentine came from Marlboro Co. SC and settled in Fayette Co GA. He was born ca. 1784 in Marlboro Co. I don't know if he was a brother or cousin to Peter and Duncan, but I would think one or the other since there aren't that many Barrentines and they all came from the same place.

In my post to Sammye Coin Heald, that should have been Peter TURNER rather than Barrentine that I said I have a photo of. Peter Turner was the husband of Frances Barrentine. Frances was dau of Jesse Barrentine and Elizabeth (maiden name?--possibly Simpson?)

Surnames: Barrentine
Dale-- I can't make a connection just yet based on the info you gave me, but there's a lot I don't know about the many descendants of Jesse and Elizabeth Barrentine. My gr-gr grandmother Frances Barrentine who married Peter Turner 1-2-1857 Fayette Co. GA was the youngest child of the family. Most of the Barrentine descendants I've connected with have been descendants of Jesse and Elizabeth's oldest child Trustus. Your gr-grandfather would have been a generation or two younger than Jesse and Elizabeth's children, so he may have been one of Jesse and Elizabeth's grandchildren or great-grandchildren. I knew that there were Barrentines in Coweta Co. and suspected a connection but never knew for sure. I will keep looking.

Hey Lamar>>>I did some leg work today and found some more info. I have a dead certificate of James J. Barrentine/11-11-1944, Father is George and mother is Lucy Walker . I'm not sure about the walker. We found a marriage certificate for G.W. Barrentine and Lucy Ann Powell - 1872. Lucy Walker and Lucy Powell could be one in the same. It list the age of James as 72. The info was supplied by J.W. Barrentine whom I thought was my GR grand pa. I also have an uncle J.W Barrentine. We also found marriage certificates for J.R Barrentine and Mollie Ferrell-1894, Jeff Barrentine and Nancy Griggs,-1903 Abbey Barrentine and Cale Ward -1895, James Barrentine and Mary Ward -1899 ( I think this is my GR-Grandpa), Nancy Barrentine and Alonzo J bartlett-1897.
