I have parents of a Rebecca Crispin as Mathias Crispin and a Mary. Rebecca married Jonathan McCafferty 7 apr 1808. Had children Mathias, George, Jonathan, and Sarah. Jonathan (the elder) parents were John McCaffertyb ca 1726 Sweet Avan Scotland and Elzabeth Richardson M 25 Jan 1804, 2nd wife. from "History of Ross Co. Ohio Bicentennial Edition" Also have Eleanor Watt as Jonathan's Mom. The dates would work better.
Rebecca was from Mathias's first marriage, perhaps 8 children. His second marriage was to Sarah White had 4 children, he 70 of age when they married. have more if interested.

I'll email you. I have a book written by my Great, Great Aunt called "Pioneers of the Courter Family". By Clarinda Courter.

My 4 times great grandmother was Rebecca Crispin. This book mentions Mathias and Mary. She said that Mathias was in the revolutionary war and taken prisoner and put on a sailing vessel. I'll see if there are more details, but I was struggling to get beyond Mathias and Mary.

Hi Janet,
Would you happen to have any information about Mathias Crispin? His parents? His service in the Revolutionary War?

This is from a book by my 4 X great aunt.

Excerpt from the book “PIONEERING: a story of the Courter family from the time of the revolutionary war to the middle of the 20th century” By Clarinda Courter Houtz

“ Uncle Isaac Crispin was the one that visited at my parent’s home. Brother Forrest remembers hearing him tell about his father, Mathias Crispin, in the revolutionary war. Mathias was one of the prisoners taken by the British and put on a sailing vessel. They gained their freedom when the ship crew got drunk. The prisoners took charge and brought the ship into a friendly port. Rebecca Crispin was Isaac Crispin’s half sister. She married Jonathan McCafferty. Their daughter, Ann McCafferty Bennet was my grandmother Bennet.”
