Very very close to my Frederick. Was your Frederick's father an immigrant from the Loirne River region near Castle Heisien in Germany? There are some Gunther's there that had a family business of salt merchants. (Oral tradition from a distant cousin I discovered working at the local Hy-Vee). I am looking for a Frederick who was origionally supposed to become a monk (2nd son) but came to America instead. Family tradition has father was also the cheif musician to Kaiser Wilhelm I of Germany. Any help?

musiclady053, I'm new to genealogy so have just seen your post of five years ago. If you log on and are still seeking, please post a reply and I'll post what little I know. The Frederick Gunther who was to be a monk or priest, was my greatgrandfather. Carol
