Does anyone know why the Lebret name was changed to
St.Amand. Iv'e been wondering about this for a long
time, and no one seems to know.

There is a story of three men who came to Canada (New France), from France. One of them was Michael LeBrette. Non of them were St Amand's. They all took that name and added it to their own. If i can forward it to you i will. IF not you will have to get your email address to me then i can send it.. I am also from Michael LeBrette's line.

Our surname is Ferrageau de St Amand.

We use St Amand usually as it is easier.

Interestd in knowing if there are any others with this name.
