I was just rolling along through the Cutler family and all was well until I got to the children of John Cutler and Katharine Baldridge. They mention John, Thomas J and others but not Irwin or Irving Cutler, my gr.gr.grandfather who was born in Hebron, New York in 1800, moved to Jay with the family and then married Harriet Bowen, had one son Asa, and moved to Navarre Ohio, had a few more children and dropped off the face of the earth before 1850. Anyone out there with news ? Anne

What other info do you have? Anything may help, other first names, a small tree outline. I looked in the Cutler Memorial History by NS Cutler and did not see an Irving or the name Bowen. Be glad to help but need more to go on.

Anne: Well, if we're cuz's, time would have to go back to at least the 1400's in Suffolk England. That's when my CUTLER's left "the nest" and moved north to Yorkshire. There were two "main" sets of Cutler's (Puritan & Quakers), who came to America in the 1600's, from England. One was James Cutler, to Watertown Mass (1637), (probably your branch), & two brothers, Edmund & John Cutler from Yorkshire who settled in Bucks County Pa (in 1685), with William Penn as Quakers. John is who I descend from, he was the Deputy Surveyor of Bucks County for William Penn.
So, we would really have to dig I think. I am working on a map of England & locating Cutler's & were they lived prior to 1685.
I'll keep my eye out for Irwin.

My GGGGrandfather was John Riley Cutler, b 20apr 1790. I don't know where he came from but married Mary Johnson from Augusta Co VA in WV in 1799 and migrated to Edgar Co IL before 1827 when my GGGrandfather Benjamin Franklin Cutler was born. Is he anywhere in your line?

Thanks,

Dianna Pollard Strainic

No, I don't. His descendents aren't/weren't that I know of.

But, do you think there may be a connection?

Hello ~ I show the birth of Delia F Cutler as April 15, 1820 in Book 1 Page 431 in Guildhall's records. The marriage list reads Delia F. Church married Wm H Hartshom June 22, 1842 to be found on page 254. As you know some of the handwriting is hard to read but I thought I would share. I am looking for perhaps a sister to Delia, Clarissa Cutler, who was born approx. 1796 and married Henry Meacham in 1819 in Guildhall. Would you happen to have run by these names? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Elaine
