Shawano County Journal – August 22, 1884

We learn that Miss MARY J. YOUMANS, whose untimely death at Bosario, South America, some 3 months ago, has been generally mentioned by the American Press, was a sister of Mrs. Eastman King, of Belle Plain, this county. Miss Youman's was the daughter of a distinguished family and niece of the learned Professor E. L. Youman’s, editor of the Popular Science monthly. In March last she went to Bosario to fill a position as teacher in the Normal school. Some weeks after her arrival there she was taken ill with typhoid fever, and died May 19th.

At moment, I am transcribing the parish records (deaths) of the Rosario Methodist Episcopal Church and have come across this useful addition to the information about one of the consequences of Mary Youmans' death:
"May 20 1884: buried in the (Rosario) municipal cemetery; from the US; teacher in the national normal school of Rosario; the coffin was placed in a niche, lent by Dr Pedro Rueda, on purpose to facilitate exhumation, which was carried into execution, June 19, and sent to the States by Captain Seth Arey, schooner "Chapin" of Boston"
