Gaskill DNA

Surnames: Gaskill Gascoigne Gaskell
If you are a male Gaskill please consider doing a Y DNA test at Family Tree DNA.

www.ftdna.com

Larry Gaskill and I have a Y DNA match.

Josiah Gaskill b 1711 is our common ancestor.

We are in the British Isles Group listing Edward Gaskill (Gascoigne?) b 1603 as our British ancestor.

(Joining a group saves some money on the test.)

If you can afford it the 25 marker test is better.

It really is a thrill so see my Gaskill tree confirmed to 1711 by DNA.

Maybe a Christmas gift for yourself or Gaskill husband, father, or son?

The DNA test is for the Gaskill Y chromosome. That usually means that your surname is Gaskill. The Y chromosome is passed from father to son but not to daughters as they have two X chromosomes.

Note to all: The Y chromosome is just another tool for all Gaskill descendents to use if they are interested in learning about their genetic history back even before there were surnames. It is only a small fragment of our genome. You don't have to have one of your own. Feel free to hitch a ride on the info that emerges from this study.
