Surnames: Clune, Kenny
I'm trying to find any info on the Clune family of Miltown, Co Clare. Michael clune married Margaret Kenny. They had eight children. The children I know of are Michael, Margaret,Francis(Frank), Joseph, Elizabeth(my GG Grandmother) and Mary. All were born in Ireland. I did a search of these message boards and found a fellow posting back in May of 2000. His name is Ed Clune. However, the e-mail address given is no longer valid. His Grandfather Frank Clune was my GG Grandmother's brother. I know this because he gives there parents names: Michael Clune and Margaret Kenny. He says Frank Clune was born in Miltown, Co Clare on 6/15/1872. He also says Frank married Delia(Bridget) Tubridy. I have confirmed this through Baptismal records of there children. Elizabeth Clune(my GGGrandmother) married Herman Tamke on Jan.10,1895 at St. Lucy's Roman Catholic Church in Jersey City, NJ. Michael Clune and his wife Margaret (Kenny) Clune are buried at Holy Name Cemetary in Jersey City, along with Michael,Joseph, and Mary and Elizabeth and Herman. Where do I go from here??
Sincerely,
Paul Tamke

My grandfather was Joseph Clune who married Mary Doherty in Hackensack, NJ. His parents were Michael Clune and Margaret Kenny. Your message filled in some of the blanks on my research. Joseph and Mary had three daughters, Josephine, Grace (my Mother) and Dorothy. My Mother passed away this past April 1st at the age of 99. Josephine married a Lee Grunewald but they were separated. They had two sons, Joseph and Edward but no one has seen or heard from them for many years. Dorothy married Thomas J. O'Connor and they had two children, Rosemary and Thomas. All of that family is deceased. All but Thomas are buried in Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon, OH. Thomas was retired Navy and buried at sea. As for the children of Frank Clune, I know there were two sons. Edward and Joseph (I think). One of the boys was in the Air Force and served at the U.S. Air Force Academy. I read somewhere that he had passed away in Texas. I hope this fills in some of the blanks on your research. Any assistance you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I know that Michael Clune and Margaret Kenny had eight children. Only five were still living as of the 1910 census.
I did know that your grandfather had three daughters, I found baptismal records for them at St. Michaels in Jersey City. Your Grandparents had another daughter. there first born was Margaret, born on aug 3, 1903, she died three weeks later and was buried in Holy Name cemetary.

Grandmother was Mary Clune born in Coore, County Clare, Ireland in 1891 but later lived in Kilrush County Clare. I have visited Kilrush and there are many Clunes still there. My grandmother had two brothers Frank and Patrick and a sister Josephine. My Grandmother lived in Hoboken, NJ and had 2 Aunts that lived in downtown Jersey city but I don't know the Aunts names.
