My grandfather was James Ray Bres of Vicksburg, Ms. His parents were John Ballard Bres and Madeline Breard Ray. Madeline's father was James S. Ray born in 1827. Madeline was born on Breard Plantation, Rayville, La. Mar. 15, 1855 and died July 25, 1929, in Marshall, Tx. Is this any help? Will gladly give you what I have on the family. I don't have much on the Ray's. I am just getting started.

Was James Ray of Richland Parish your grandfather? I have him married to a catholic lady (no name). All 3 brothers (John, Robert and James) married catholic ladies and became catholic. Is this your line? I was in Rayville 2 years ago and found a book by Williams that was wrong. Is your James married in Monroe? Thanks.

James Ray Bres of Vicksburg MS married Lena Wood. He passed in 1999, and Lena followed him in 2005. His son (Jim) is my grandfather, he (Jim) has 8 children, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Are you looking for something in specific?

My grandfather is James Ray Jr. (I.e Jim) he married Joan. Yes we are Roman Catholic, although I didn't know the Bres family didn't descend from a full Catholic line! My grandparents have a lot of our family history, if your looking for something specific. Sadly grandpa Bres (James Ray Sr.) passed away in 1999. There's now James Ray Jr., and James Ray the III. Were you able to see the image I posted?
