Denise,
You might try the UVM library. They have a huge Canadian collection- indexes to gazeteers, newspapers, census, genealogies, etc.
There also is an Canadian Studies Center across the road.

Not sure where you are located, but I'm sure the catalog is on-line, at least.

I am desc. from their daughter Mary "Polly" Perkins, who I believe married Robert Marsh in Woodstock around 1816, minister was Walter Chapin. Joseph Marsh of Crown Point I believe is their son. Joseph Marsh married Ann Chapin (prob. 2nd wife), and they raised a family in Crown Point. Their daughter Eliza Marsh married Carlos Whitney. He was b. in Vt. but grew up in Dunham, Quebec. He was an Adirondack Guide in the 1860-80's.
I am looking for info. on this Perkins/Marsh/Chapin/Whitney connection--I would love to collaborate if possible.

I believe you have a good lead on the connection between, Perkins, Marsh and Chapin families. I was reviewing the 1850 Crownpoint, NY Census on Obediah & Martha (Perkins) Baldwin family, and noticed that Rebecca Chapin b. 1797 was listed in their household. I also know that Joseph & Ann Eliza (Chapin) Marsh are buried right next to Obediah Baldwin. I also found out an interesting tidbit of information from reviewing the 1860 census... Martha "Patty" (Perkins) Baldwin was married twice. I wonder if she too married either a Chapin or a Marsh prior to her marriage to Obediah Baldwin. Obediah Baldwin was married 3 times and had a total of 19 children. Martha "Patty" (Perkins) Baldwin had a total of 11 children. Please contact me at itsperk@prodigy.net.

**Note to myself** I contacted Dave Robinson who had posted information on the Carlos Whitney & Eliza Ann Marsh family located here: http://boards.ancestry.com/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=684&...

Dave responded back and mentioned that he had received a verbal genealogy report from a distant aunt who is no longer living, that Ann Eliza, who married Joseph Marsh, was a GOULD rather than a CHAPIN.

I was confused by this also--I saw this in the cemetery. I think the the Gould connection is also through the Perkins family. Ann Eliza Marsh was a Chapin, as was in her obituary, and also, Carlos Whitney spent a lot of time going to Saranac Lake etc. w/ his "cousin" Ellsworth Petty, who was married to Ann's sister Leona. (Also referred to as a relative in Clarence Petty's biography).

Correct, there is a Gould connection to the Perkins family. Philena Perkins b.1816, daughter of William & Lucy (Seaver/Sever) Perkins married Charles Gould.
