I am descended from an Aikin family with a long history in Buffalo and Lockport, NY.There is an Aikin Road near Lockport. The family originated in Duchess County, NY.

I was born and grew up in the city of Lockport, NY. My father was Raymond Arthur Aikin, and my paternal grandparents were Richard Clayton Aikin (b. abt 1874, d. Mar-1943) and Clara Estelle Richards (b. 7-Aug-1885, d. 11-Jul-1939). Richard, Clara, and their children lived on a farm on Slayton Settlement Road in the Town of Lockport, Niagara County, NY.

Based on family information and census records, I believe that Richard Clayton Aikin's parents were William Aikin and Mary Brown of Newfane Township, Niagara County, NY. William and Mary's children included Richard, Walter, Frances (female), John, Deliah, Eugene, and Sarah. I can see William, Mary, and their children in census records, and can see descendant families of Richard, Frances, John, Deliah, Eugene, and Sarah in the census records. The census records indicate that Mary was born in England, but are inconsistent regarding William's birthplace.

I would be most interested in any information regarding William Aikin and/or Mary Brown.
