I am in the Louis Antoine Andry line, the one who was the royal surveyor. Born probably in Paris. In 1765 led large groups of Acadian exiles to select a settlemnet sit, in the area of present-day St. Martinville, LA. He was killed in 1779 with one of his sons when their ship was attacked by hostile Indians in the Bay of San Bernado, Tex. I have all of the current history from here in New Orleans, however, I just cannot jump back to before he came to Louisiana. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail me at GranAAC@cs.com

Louis A. Andry was born in Paris, France in 1727 and came to La. and married Marie Jeanne Lapierre in the church of St. Louis in New Orleans in 1752. Mrs. Andry's parents were Jean Baptiste La Pierre b.1705 in Frenois, Champagne, Diocese Langres, France and her mother was Marie Belliard Bessaud b.about 1700 in Jallais, Diocese Angers, Maine-et-Loire, France. I have nothing on Louis's parents but I'am trying to find them! Margie Rose ----

Thank you for the information. Do you by any chance have any ship list on him or was he in the military at that early age also.

I cannot find what ship Louis and his brothers took to arrive in America. I believe the three brothers were already in thr French Military when they arrived. I did find out recently in a Geneology reference book that Louis had been a Chevalier of the Royal and Military Order of St. Louis.

Thank you once again for the info. If I can help you out (which it sounds like you have gone very for), please let me know. I was into this search years ago, I obtained copies of letters, wills, obits. Like the letter the Gov. of La. wrote to Louis Andry's wife when he was missing and killed. Please contact me at GranAAC@cs.com and I can fax anything that you might not have. Thanks again.

Hi Arden,

I am Bert Andry's oldest son. I'm doing research on our family genealogy. Could you please help. I'm trying to fill in empty holes. I have the information you probably have on Louis Andry and his son, Manuel. I don't have too much after Manuel - from Michel down to my great grandfather. Could you please advise.

Thanks,

Kevin Andry

Surnames: ANDRY LAPIERRE CANTRELLE
Hello,
I am a descendant of Louis Antoine ANDRY through his daughter Madeleine Celeste ANDRY who married Michel Bernard CANTRELLE.
In a post dated 12 Nov 2000 you mentioned that you have copies of letters, wills, obits, and the letter the governor wrote to Andry's wife informing her of her husband's death.
I have sacramental records I would be happy to share, but that's about it. I would love to have more information on this line, but because it is very difficult to travel now, I doubt I will get a chance to make a research trip. I would be willing to pay generously for copying and mailing copies of those documents. Would that be too much to ask??
Thank you for considering my request.
