Hello,

I have a couple of Richard TIPPING's in my tree but these are from the Stockport area. Richard TIPPING (b. ca 1780 in Preston) married Mary BANN in 1806 ... had at least 8 children: James, Charles, Robert, John, Rachel, Edward, Mary Anne & Richard (b. 1823). Richard (snr) died in Stockport in 1858 and Mary in 1834.

My gx3 grandfather was the eldest son James who married Elizabeth SCOTT in 1830. I know they remained in the Stockport/Heaton Norris area until James died in 1884.

Any connection?
Karen

Hi Karen, I'm not sure if there is a connection or not. If there is a connection it would probable be in the next generation up from your 1st Richard. My early tree has a Samuel Tipping and Ann Monning living in the Lydney area of Gloucestershire. I have at least two children from that marriage, John and William. John Tipping was born in 1721 and married a Rachel Smith. Known children from that marriage are John Tipping (ca 1757-1807) Richard (my ancestor and a William Tipping (1760-1783). It is possible that your Tippings are related to mine, but that link is probably only as cousins from the same generation as Samuel Tipping. Wish I could be of more help in this
Richard

Hi Lynn, Its been a while, i was a long time off the internet. I still haven't got any futher back than Samuel Tipping but I have fleshed out a bit of his, his wifes and some of the children and spouses dates. How has your reasearch gone? I now have Ann Monings death date as well as their second son William, I also have Rachel Smiths birth/death and some details on her parents and a bitmore on the Bodman family as well (whos Mary married Richard Tipping 1758-1830).
