I have lots of Wheelhouse information. But FIRST your James P. is Joseph P.(no papers on the P. but David Peyton is his father?) Joseph was born 12/1825. Married Margaret A. Reese 10/11/1848 Lots of sons but one, Benjamin Franklin Wheelhouse Sr. born 5/6/1861, married Cornelius Thomas Clarke, 12/30/1886 in Richmond, Va.
The Clarke family tree has always been an adventure. The following info are from family records, visits and "pictures" to the Clarke/Wheelhouse farm, and farm cemetary, in Dinwiddie Co.
Cornelius (my great gandmother) parents were, George Rowland Clarke, born 2/10/1808, married Elizabeth Ann.
NOW we get serious. family records say last name ICE
from Alabama. That is one long wild goose chase. No solid paper records to show or prove, only "Wheelhouse family" stories. The new last name of Lawson? That is very interesting. Any good paper records to show that? Marriage certificate, land/tax papers?
I'd be happy to share what I know, and have seen on grave markers on the old farm. It was being developed and sold in pieces (1997?) but the old cemetary was to be left alone. It's on a slight hill near a small spring. The sales map showed a future road and the cemetary next to that road? Been out there lately?

Thanks for the info on the Wheelhouse's. My husband 's grandfather was Franklin Lewis Clarke, Cornelia's brother. Some years ago a Clarke cousin was going to take us to the cementary but he got sick & we never made it. Who would we get in touch with about visiting the cemtary as we have no clue where it is. We live in Caroline County so we are not that far away. So good to hear from one of my husband's cousin. My husband Calvin Luther is the son of Luther Ernest Clarke through Luther's 3rd wife Mary Virginia Howard. Would loe to have any info you can share. Have you ever been in touch with Lynn Pine Collis? She has done a lot of work on the Clarke's but I haven't heard from her for a while.

oclark11, I see 14 brothers and sisters of Cornelia but no Franklin Lewis? Email me at silvrfox@bellsouth.net and we can trade names and dates.
As far as seeing who about the old Clarke/Wheelhouse farm.
My first guess would be my Uncle but he's not well lately? My next name would be a lady we met out there. She was from a local historical society. I'll see if I can send you my web page link and maybe her name is on it? There's a picture or two there also. Email me.

Sorry about the typo. His naME was Frederick Lewis. Sure hope we can see the cementary this spring or summer. Will be looking foward to hearing from you. Appreciate your taking the time to help me. We also inherited Frederick Lewis's bible & there are some tin type photos in it that we have no clue who they are. One picture in there is suppose to be Missouri Ann Clarke who was the wife of Frederick Lewis.

sibling #4 Frederick. Born about 1855? Yes I see him.
Here's the web page I was talking about with Cornelia's picture (picture #2 I think)
http://www.genealogy.com/users/w/h/e/Randolph-Wheelhouse/
I have a few of her and Ben at various ages (in my computer) I have pictures from Ben's funeral at the farm, and others that you'd probably like to see.
The mention of Fredericks wife and the word name Missouri. I have a big question about the Clarke family. The E Clarke and the NO-E Clark. I'm interested.
I have lots to say and ask. Find my email and email me.

I know what you're talking about. The E minus E is confusing. My husband's half brother Freddie Clarke who was Luther Ernest's son dropped the E from his name when he went to work in DC. I have Missouri Ann as the dau of Benjamin Clarke & Martha Susan who was also a Clarke. Martha Susan was dau of Renyard Clarke & Nancy G. Newby. Renyard was brothe to George Roland Clarke. So many cousins marr cousins it's almost impossible to keep up with. I would love to get with you & show you what I have on the Clarke's. Where do you live? I live in Caroline Co which is about 40 miles north of Richmond.
Ollie PS Thanks for the great pictures.
