Does anyone know what was happening in this area in the 1800s. My great g g g g grandfather disappeared in 1798 from Doncaster when they were recruiting for the militia. His parents die in Oman in 1810 and 1822 if this is correct, then his grandaughter in 1892 and her grandson in 1948. I know it became a british treaty in 1798 and there may have been wars (Mysore) against the British East India tea company. Aged looks like it is no longer a city and Im not sure where to email for info, I.E. family history or military societies. Any help would be great.

Kind Regards

Lisa

Lisa, Ash sharqui has shown as a possible link to my great Aunt Jane Jacob (married to a Mr Weatherbey).Aunt Janey had a sister Sarah and Mum's (my grandmothers.father) James Jacob b.1826.She talked about them lots and we visited Oxford lots... However I am surprised to find this possible connection and intriqued.
