PAF dropping Gedcom fields

PAF dropping Gedcom fields

I've created a Gedcom file using Roots Magic 4. Opening up the Gedcom as a text file, I can see my 'Prefix' and 'Suffix', such as Dr. Richard B. Orrell, M.D. with the Dr. being the prefix and the M.D. being the suffix.

I want to pull into PAF to use some of the various PAF utility programs. However, when pulling into PAF I immediately loose all prefix and suffix tags.

Can anyone offer suggestions? While Roots Magic is a good program, there is much to be offered with PAF utility programs (such as convert names to upper and lower case, etc).

Apparently PAF allows for a Title field, which can be used for prefixes like Dr., but it doesn't seem to have a suffix field.

The help files say to just include the suffix (they use Sr. and Jr. as examples) as part of the surname.

I realize that this doesn't help with your suffix problem, but you should be able to do a global search and replace in the gedcom to convert the tag Prefix to Title.

Give it a try and see what happens.
