I am seeking any link or association to Daniel (b.1856) or Charles (b.1852) GOTTFRIED (surname, not given name),
originally born in Waterloo township, Ontario, Canada. Migrated to Appleton and Milwaukee areas AS LAST KNOWN (may have proceeded further, maybe around 1875.

A Charles Gottfried died in Milwaukee, 61 yrs old. His death notices were published in local German language newspapers. A Margaret Gottfried (nee George), survived by Charles, died just a few months earlier. There are about 35 Gottfried entries or references in the growing index.

Thanks, Gary!

I have been able to find these death dates since originally posting my query in 1999. However, I am interested in your German newspapers indexing project, and I am wondering how I may do further research there, same family and descendants.

The index and the large collection of German-American papers are not online at this time. I'm creating a cultural resource but not a death date index. I will verify specific names in the index if provided with name and date, or date range, via email.
