Does anyone have info on Chamblins of Winchester VA area. My g-g-g grandparents are Thomas Chamblin and Mary (Attie) Baker. They lived at Highlands in Clark Co. VA. and had 4 children, Nina, Kathleen, Henry, and one other son. I'm new to geneology and would appreciate any help or pointers. Thank you.

Tom, thank you so much for your message. You have helped fill in an important missing piece - the name of Thomas Chamblin's mother. This week I have been able to go through Katie Baker Chamblin's scrapbook which is full of newsclippings, wedding announcements (including her own),obituaries, and photos with family information. I have found a photo of William Chamblin, Thomas's father according to your sources, and have discovered that Henry Baker's wife's name was Catherine Grove. How are you related to this line of the family? I seem to have come upon a little "treasure chest" of information and would be happy to share with you.

I am still organizing all the news clippings, etc., and would be glad to check and see if I can find Naler Chamblin or Milo Perry mentioned anywhere. I'll let you know whether or not I find them.

Phyllis,
You are about to track the wrong
Wm. Chamblin.
I gather you have not contacted
any of Erroll's family.
Do you know Erroll's aunt Lucille Withey? She has done extensive work on the Chamblin genealogy. That line is a little complicated.
Erroll's grandfather Wm.was the son of Henrietta Chamblin and her
husband. When she died Wm. was
adopted by Henrietta's brother
George Boggs Chamblin and his
wife Cornelia (Whitten). That is
my line and I have a great deal of
info on them.
In recent years Lucille finally
found Wm.'s birth father. It is
a VERY long story.
Unfortunately, as you may know,
Lucille is now in a home and her husband Al says her mind is gone. Al himself is also in VERY poor health....but he does get Online and has a GREAT deal of info on your Wm. I am forwarding your 'posts' to him. He can certainly fill you in on Wm. if he is able.
