My grandfather John Davin and his brother Michael Davin emigrated from Fahey Clifden Ireland around 1900 to Fort Plain NY. John and Michael's parents were Michael Davin and Elizabeth Ward Davin of Fahey Clifden, which is on the Sky Road. We are looking for information on Luke Davin and Delia Davin who were witnesses at Michael's marriage to Ella Joyce in 1903 near Fort Plain NY. Luke Davin and Delia Davin are new names to our Davin Family tree and we are wondering if anyone has any information on them or any other Davins from the Fahey Clifden Thanking you in advance.

My grandfather, Anthony Davin came to Pittsburgh, PA in the late 1860's from Renvyle (Cashleen) near Clifden and Skye Road. There's a very good chance that they are related.

I am wondering if your Davins have any connection to the Davins in the US 1880 census in Palatine, NY.
Parents John Davin and Bridget (Connelly) born in Ireland,
children
Delia (b PA)
Michael (b PA)
Thomas (b NY)
and Mary (b Ireland, living next door).
I believe they came to the US in early 1860's.

Someones website lists the parents John and Bridget as being born in Clifden, Co. Galway.

Hi JMGTaylor: It's funny you should ask that question. I've been researching that same question myself for about five years trying to determine if the Palatine Davins are related to my Davin ancestors who settled in Fort Plain, Canajoharie, Gloversville and Johnstown NY area. My grandfather John Davin and his brother Michael stayed with an uncle Thomas Davin in Canajoharie when they arrived from Clifden. I noticed that the Davin family you mentioned lived close to them at that time in Palatine Bridge and when I saw that the website you mentioned showed they were from Clifden, I assumed they were related but to date I have been unable to prove it despite extensive research. I wrote to the administrator of that family tree several times looking for more info on the Palatine Davins but never received a response. If you have a connection to them of to any Clifden Davins I would love to hear from you. I'm convinced that all Davins from Clifden are related. Bill Burke

I am searching for the Davin's of Steubenville, Ohio. My great grandfather was born in West Virginia and worked for the Pa. Railroad. I know his parents were from Ireland.
Several Davin's were raised in WVA but some ended up
living in Steubenville, Ohio across the bridge from Weirton.
I am still researching the Davins on both sides of the
bridge.

Sorry but I don't have any Davin relatives that I know of in W. Virginia or Ohio. Do you have any idea of where in Ireland the came from or when they came over to the states? If they came from around Clifden I might be able to help you. Bill Burke

My Delia was the daughter of John and Bridget (Connelly) Davin. Yes, they lived in Palatine, New York. Her full name was Delia Barbara Davin. She married my great-grandfather Patrick James Fleming. One of her sons would be my grandfather Arthur Michael Fleming, who was born in Johnstown, New York.

... also they are from Clifden, Ireland. From there, they went to Mahonoy City, Pennsylvania. From there to New York (i.e. Johnstown and Palantine). I would love it if you are a relative of mind and also to have information.

PS My grandfather Arthur M. Fleming who was the son of Delia Davin, was the mayor of Canajoharie, New York, from 1966-1970.
